Let’s Reset your Kitchen
Lets reset your kitchen for spring. Our goal is a realistic, functional and maintainable reset. Lets do this.
Your kitchen is one of the most used spaces in your home. When it’s working well, everything feels smoother—from mornings to meal prep to family routines.
Step 1: Clear Your Counters
Start by removing anything that doesn’t need to live on your countertops.
Keep only what you use daily:
Coffee setup
Cooking oils or essentials
A few functional tools
An edited amount of decor
Everything else can be stored or reassigned.
This alone can completely shift how your kitchen feels.
Step 2: Reset One Zone at a Time
Skip the full kitchen overhaul. This is intentional and managable.
Instead, choose one small area:
A drawer
A cabinet
One pantry shelf
A section of your fridge
Ask yourself:
Do I actually use this?
Do I have duplicates?
Is this making my life easier or harder?
Small, focused resets are what actually create lasting change.
Step 3: Lightly Edit Your Fridge and Pantry
You don’t need a full deep clean—just a quick reset.
Toss anything expired
Group similar items together
Make everyday items easy to see and grab
Reduce friction and make this simple.
Step 4: Create Simple, Functional Zones
Your kitchen should reflect how you actually move through your day.
Consider creating zones like:
Morning routine (coffee, breakfast)
Lunch prep
Dinner cooking
Snacks and quick grabs
Group items based on use—not where you think they “should” go
Important Note from the pro — This step has the potential to turn your reset into a larger project. Just grouping items together is a great start. In my experience this can be the point that brings on the overwhelm so proceede with care, and if you want a big kitchen overhaul this is where I am happy to step in and provide some support and guidance!
Step 5: Add Structure Where It Helps
You don’t need to over-organize or buy a full set of bins. See what works and edit from there.
Add support only where it solves a problem: (my kitchen favorites)
Drawer dividers for utensils
Bins for pantry categories
Turntables for oils or sauces
Keep it simple and functional and whatever you deemed to be your overall budget.
Step 6: Maintain with a Weekly Reset
This is what keeps everything working.
Once a week:
Toss old food
Do a quick fridge check
Reset one small area
Set a 15 minute timer and create some progress!
A quick evening reset is enough to keep overwhelm from creeping back in!
And then you get that “Ahhhhhh” post organization happy feeling
