How to maintain your organization
Hello Life Simplifier!
This is a topic I love talking about! So get ready!
How are we going to maintain all this work after the “work is done”
Well I have good news and bad news… the work is never done, AND it is totally possible to maintain your organization progress.
I like to think of it like going to the gym. As much as we all would like just going hard a for a short time and getting “fit” (organized) doesn’t work, we have to put in some consistency and some effort to maintain all that work.
There are several important factors I want to break down as simply as possible.
The systems we create for you in our organizing and decluttering sessions should hold
There are always nuances, like you started a new pickleball hobby that we didn’t previously need to have a home for.
Dedicating time to maintenance.
This looks different for everyone. Some clients prefer evening and weekend routines to keep them on track, others are more “when I am in the mood”
This is something I leave with my clients as we complete a project is an action plan custom created for my clients personal lifestyle.

Major Take Away
What I really really really want to emphasize here is my favorite maintenance tip, hack, whatever you would like to call it…. is this
ALWAYS, always, and then always… be editing.
Ways to Edit
Keep a donation bag or box or bin (whatever works for you) in each closet to get rid of clothing you no longer wear.
I will often add to this bag that just hangs in my closet. I will go through this only when full. Often times I pull an item back out to rejoin it’s home in my closet, but mostly I am able to let these items go. I love this method as it gives you a second chance to look through your donation items… and they are removed from your closet to determine if you actually miss it… or not.
When unpacking groceries, use this time to wipe down your fridge and pantry and check for expired items. You can even just do a category at a time.
For example, this next grocery haul just check your baking goods, next time the cans, and so on.
Decor, this is a big mindset shift. We often hang up decor and just leave it.
I often like to ask clients (and myself) “If I were moving in here today would i still choose to hang that up, or display that thing?” It is okay to remove decorations if they are no longer representing this phase of your life.
Kitchen Gadgets
Oh this is a big category for most of us. Are you a sucker for a gadget? I have been there, and so have a lot of my clients. I often am hesitant about one of products that only serve one purpose.
Example: Watermelon slicer…. takes up a lot of room, most of us just use a knife anyways.
