The November Home Checklist: What To Do Now So December Feels Easy

November is one of my favorite transition months. The light is softer, the weather cools, and home naturally becomes the center of daily life. This is the perfect time to create a gentle reset that supports you before the holiday season begins.

This is not about doing everything. It is about choosing a few small, high-impact tasks that help your home feel calm and ready for the weeks ahead. Think of this list as an ease-filled starting point to guide your November rhythm.

Here is your November Home Checklist.

I just want to also make a note…

KITCHEN

Declutter the fridge

Remove leftovers, old condiments, and anything that is no longer needed. Wipe the main shelves and regroup items so meals feel easier.

Refresh your pantry

Choose one shelf to reset. Wipe it down, toss expired items, and gather what you have for simple fall and winter meals.

Restock winter staples

Think about what supports low-stress meals. Broth, pasta, baking basics, canned tomatoes, spices, oats, and grab-and-go snacks for busy nights. This is where your Amazon pantry items can link in naturally.

I love these glass jars for dry goods, if you need a little visual upgrade!

Prep storage for holiday leftovers

Pull out a few containers and storage bags now so they are ready for later in the month. If you have the Target Brightroom storage bags for decor, you can reference them here for holiday storage planning.

LIVING AREAS

Layer in warm lighting

Turn on lamps earlier in the day. Add twinkle lights or flameless candles to soften the evenings and create a cozy atmosphere. Try these flameless candles for some cozy ambiance!

Refresh blankets and pillows

Wash throw blankets, rotate pillow covers, and place a small basket nearby for easy access. These little touches make a big difference.

Clear surfaces

A five minute reset of the coffee table, console, and side tables keeps the room feeling settled and peaceful.

ENTRYWAY

Reset coats and shoes

Move summer items out, gather scarves and hats, and keep only what you truly use. Wipe down the inside of the closet if needed.

Add a simple grab-and-go system

A basket for gloves, a tray for keys, and hooks set at the right height help mornings stay smoother.

These are some of my favorite baskets I often put into my clients’ entry ways. Or if you need a larger basket for dog towels, I keep mine in this cute taller basket!

Sweep the floors

A quick sweep or vacuum makes the whole space feel refreshed.

BEDROOMS

Swap bedding to winter layers

Choose warmer sheets or a heavier blanket if your home gets colder at night. A soft, cozy bed supports better rest during the busy season.

Reset nightstands

Remove old cups, tissues, and the little things that gather over time. Add one intentional item that brings comfort, such as a book, candle, or hand cream. If you have a nightstand with drawers, I always like to add some organizers in the drawers for a little structure. These are a great option!

Rotate kids clothing if needed

Move out summer pieces and bring winter options to the front. This helps mornings feel easier for everyone.

HOME SUPPORT

Pick one space to reset each week

Focus on one project per week. This keeps you out of overwhelm and still moves your home in a positive direction.

Begin your holiday to-do list

Gifts, events, travel details, decorating plans, and any deadlines you want to stay ahead of. A simple list on paper or in your Notes app works beautifully.

Add your decorating date to the calendar

Choose the day you plan to decorate and keep it light and enjoyable. A little planning helps it stay fun rather than stressful.

Prep for holiday cards

Gather addresses, stamps, and any photos you want to use. If you are keeping cards simple this year, make a note of that too.

I sincerely hope these tips and to do’s create some calm and simplicity in your busy holiday season. My goal is always to bring that energy into your life and into your space. Wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons, full of simple joy and lots of holiday magic.

Choose Simple,

Sarah
